Historical Imagery forensics
Spectre Solutions has been very privilaged to have been involved in some of the most famous investigations history has given to us. As a Facial Mapping Expert it is a privilege to work on matters of such historical value.
Unlike DNA forensics, Imagery Analysis has not really changed since the First World War in its methodology, but the equipment and the method of reviewing visual evidence has developed and therefore the ability to review material has improved.
We have been instructed in many case to review material that has been dormant and not seen the light of day for decades. Some of the material can be found on Youtube but effectively it all comes down to how and by whom has viewed it past and present.

Historical evidential material
Over time photographic and video/cine tape can degrade, there are ways of having those materials preserved both physically and digitally. The staple diet of the Imagery Analysis Expert is the review of footage and imagery seeking out that valuable frame.
Given the advancement in technology, it still surprises us everyday at the comparable quality in modern camera footage when compared to old recording media.
We have worked with material digitally converted from 8mm cine tape as example 'tin type' photographs to all manner media platforms.
Preservation is key so maintaining the quality/resolution is paramount in retrieving the best evidence.
